Default New User Signup to E-mail versus Private Message [by admin]

Xoops - Website Administration::[request] Default New User Signup to E-mail versus Private Message
New user natively defaults to private message. So, a new help desk ticket would go to PM versus e-mail.

Need to research xoops.org directly.

Why Xoops? [by admin]

Xoops - Website Administration:: Why Xoops?
The primary reason we develop in Xoops is the familiarity of it. http://www.impresscms.org/ branched off from Xoops.org and is promising as well. The drawback of Xoops is that we get lots of requests to port to Joomla. The answer to that is that we have developers who can port the "look and feel" of most sites. Anyway, a good portal systems is scalable with lots of modules (help desk, forum, articles, etc) and themes (look and feel). You can change the entire look and feel with no impact to content.
